I recently did the same change from the stock DU3240 shock and the DU3011 w/Chandler kit (DucShop).
Its really screwed up my riding style because the rear feels more linear and has WAY more travel then the stock shock. The biggest difference between the two shocks is the subtleness of the DU3011, even though it still has a stiff spring, the bumps don't effect me anymore. Also, sliding the bike around is much more controllable (duh) because of how much softer it feels. In the one race weekend I've had on the DU3011, I've really had to set the bike up differently from tire pressures to preload (I can finally get decent sag). I'm not "in love" with the shock yet, but I can see the potential and with 2 more weekends of setup, it should work well.
Anyhow, the longer wheel base of the extended swing arm, the linear shock link and the shock to match, those should all substantially help the rear grip of the bike, especially mid corner and exiting, where the 848/1098 series has issues in stock configuration.
