Rotate 90 counterclockwise if I recall, then pull. If they won't turn counterclockwise, try clockwise, I can't remember for sure which way...but it will be pretty obvious that they want to turn one way and no the other. They may need a decent tug if it's been a while. The o-rings can stick sometimes. There are two springy pieces of brass that the pins lock into when rotated clockwise, make sure they aren't broken while you have the stacks out. They are thin, and will break from time to time, and you wouldn't want it going through the motor.
