Congrats on the move!!

Glad you are in a "more american" area now..honestly I haven't had the opportunity to get any trigger time behind the Ruger, I have owned several P series in the past...not a bad weapon. However I have quite a few glocks, and run them in competition and the like for many years now...you just can't go wrong with a glock..The XD is highly recomended as well. I do not own one, but have spent sometime throwing lead with one I have always walked away very impressed. I think is was Rob that said to go and handle them, see what fits you best. That is the best advice I could give you, most indoor ranges will allow you to rent various weapons so that may be the best starting block. Sounds like you have enough experience with firearms so you know what YOU need to have in the weapon, my experience is my rugers were good guns, I just have never even thought of getting another since owning a glock, and see better choices out there than the SR9.
