Yeah, kinda kidding. My best friend/best man lives there so it was going to be a two birds thing.
But went to the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass fest instead. That is a festival that is ruined by it's own success - way too many people - because it's free, in Golden Gate Park. The last time I went to HSB was about six years ago. This time something was quite different. Marijuana. I'll be darned but I think this state has undergone a paradigm shift in attitudes about pot. Six years ago I didn't see any. This time it was common. There were people carrying around bongs. There were brownies and cookies for sale. No big deal. And why should it be?
Then we went by the Love Fest downtown. A giant outdoor rave, with lots of scantily clad girls. And lots of great rhythms.
Friday may go see Stanley Clarke at a new SF jazz club. The godfather of electric bass. For 30+ years there are none better. Stanley will blow you away.
