This is what was being used on the V22 Osprey when I left the program. The engineers called them click studs and click tabs, and the most important thing to remember when dealing with any composites is going to be surface prep. With these kits you are basically gluing a bolt onto your surface, it seems like something mechanical would be stronger but these things will not come off if you do it right.

This link has instructions and a better view of how they work. He uses the click studs to avoid having to drill into his firewall.
