Hey Nikos,

I donīt mean to bother you, but thatīs way too hot for my liking. It should be run at 80°C, thatīs where it will make the best power. If you read my linked post, I found that youīre losing a good bunch of horsepower by an overheating engine.

Now, 40°C outside temperature is a lot and quite unusual. I donīt think you can use the stock radiator to cool the bike down to 80° at these ambient temps. I tried and had no luck.

Regarding your "modifications" go, the Samco hoses wonīt do anything to the water temperature. I think they can resist more heat.... and they look racy. The water pump cover is just good for the bling and crash protection. The water wetter stuff shouldnīt bring temps down, too.

I thought about adding a 2nd radiator to my bike. One idea was to place it in the cockpit. Possible when you run the 04 fairing. But the downside would have been, that it would get quite warm, because all the hot air will be directed towards the rider. I donīt know if thatīs advisable. Second option was mounting it on the right hand side, like they did with the RC51 (VTR 1000). I liked that idea but never did it, because I got a grip on the heat problems with the fairing being cut out.

While reading your post again, I thought about your head gasket being malfunctional. Did you check that? If you have a problem there, the heat will increase for sure.

Iīd say, go and try what the demonic technician from hell suggested and remove the thermostate + plug the water pipe. The "wind umbrella" is worth a look too. Doesnīt your mate make carbon fibre stuff?

If that fails, donīt bother with the homemade shyte and buy a radiator.

Guess what Walter has on offer:
DUCATI 1098 RS KIT RADIATORI UFFICIALI MB MOTORSPORT bei eBay.de: Motore e Trasmissione (endet 26.02.09 18:06:42 MEZ)

Iīm sure he has something for your 999.

Otherwise I can get a few % at Rehm Race Service in Germany:
Kitkühler

Theyīre 1080 Euros for the 999... so... if you want one, Iīll see how much I can do with Kurt on the phone
