dosnt sound that bad to tell you the truth. yes, make sure it is tuned properly-the dp ecu's are terible and need a piggy back to straighten them out air fuel wise. this will help but between the therm mod and a rad hoop you will be gold. i make things like that from a sheet of abs plastic or equivilant. make it from card bord first then trace it to the abs. use a heat gun to shape it(this seams to work only one heat cycle so get it right)
