Broken ring, scored cylinder
Digging into the 1997 900SS to see why it's burning oil.
Not too hard to figure out - pulled the horizontal cylinder (that's the one that was low on compression and oil-fouling plugs) and I find a broken oil ring and a scored cylinder - nice little symmetrical "column" of discolored metal that I can feel, slightly, with a fingertip.
Can these cylinders be rebored? Any idea how much that should cost? Do you then need oversized rings?
This is no doubt a self-inflicted wound....
Thanks all - BrianK
