All the ST line needed were a few changes to make it viable. I recently did an informal survey regarding the ST and had no shortage of opinions on the subject. For the most part the bike is loved by their owners as is the MTS. Ducati apparently decided on a different course and my survey was politely received but it had no impact as far any news of bringing the line back some day.
The MTS has made a powerful case for staying alive over the long run unless Ducati decides to stay with the controversial design. I don't have a problem with it, unlike when I first saw it. I think the more you learn about the bike and hear about how it performs and outperforms superbikes under less than ideal road conditions, the more you are drawn to it. Function then evolves into beauty, at least in my case it did. I have MTS buddies who absolutely love their machines. Ducati can do much better if they put some of that Italian design magic into the MTS. The bike exceeds expectations and more, all it needs is a face lift in order to attract the vainity crowd. No offense meant by that, otherwise I would be a hypocrite if I said I have never bought a bike based on performance alone. Looks is way up there on my needs list.
