Have you never run into an occasional problem starting? I don't know how different the Paso and SS plumbing is, but occasionally, my SS just wouldn't start. It took me a long time to catch onto the fact that sometimes the pump was running, and sometimes it wasn't. But, if it works for you without the pump, then 'nuff said. My old Airhead Beemer didn't need no steenkin' pump!
