There are books you can pick up at most of the 4x4 stores that detail where the good places are to go. That will solve your problem. I'm not a 4x4 person , but an area where we would ride is prime habitat for that. Its up outside of Georgetown, California in an area called Wentworth Springs Rd. As you pass through probably the nicest most sculpted twisties you will ever see the road Ts with another road that can take you to higher Sierra Nevada Lakes or left to work your way back down to Hgwy 50. There are many places in the area where I have seen 4x4 of all sorts.
