I see your point. However, we are all different and there seems to be a good bit of people willing to ask for opinions and suggestions on which bike(s) would be a good fit for them and their needs. I'm sort of in the middle of the 2 schools of thought, but i can see why people would like to have feedback on something they aren't 100% familiar with.
