I ran my monster S2R1000 this year at the track. My only mod at the time was an exhaust system. All other components were as they came. It was my first track day and I found the bike both forgiving and capable. Track prep was easy because there is no coolant issues. The bike is super light and totally flickable with the stock bars. That was a big help for a newbie like myself, read easy to change bad lines mid corner. I also thought it trailbraked like a champ. Thats the good stuff, here are my gripes. I found the limits of the rear suspension real quick once I picked up the pace and really started to push it. The front end also lacks the adjustablility of most modern litre bikes. The rev limiter also comes in way too early. I was bouncing off that thing constantly. In the bikes defense however, I did go down one sprocket tooth in the front. I guess if the price is right go for it, but you may grow out of it after a couple of track events.
