You do realize that even though someone owns a business, it's very easy for things to go on underneath them without knowing.
I work in IT in the data architecture team. You think my manager knows what my databases look like? You think my director knows? How about my CIO?
You think a restaurant owner knows all the ingredients that go into every dish that his chef makes? A chef can make 15 plates of the same dish, and he still can throw in something he shouldnt have, but by your logic, the owner should know.
In case you havent noticed, Earl is at his son's races, pretty much all the time. Given he's away from his business a lot, it's very easy to overlook things.
