Did the shop find low compression as the result of a leakdown test? If so, the labor to breakdown and rebuild a motor is expensive, esp at a stealership. A smaller shop might charge closer to $1000.00 You are probably better off simply replacing the motor. The cost of a used motor should be less than the cost to repair your damaged motor- depending on availability. Check Ebay or local motorcycle salvage yards for a motor with low mileage.
