Hey folks. I was out riding my 1995 900 ss/sp this evening for about 2 hours on some back country twisties. After adjusting the front forks some, I have been trying to get used to the front end. Anyway, I am enjoying the front end a lot more now but the engine is starting to hinder me a little. Now before you guys start saying simple things like, you need to change gears sooner or this bike isn't meant to be ridden like that, I want to first say that I am trying to determine the power bands on this bike and what each of the gears are capable of. So here it goes.
While running the bike at WOT in any of the gears the bike is killing itself between 6,800-7,500 rpm's, and no matter how long or how hard the throttle is held, the engine will not push through this dead spot. Meaning the bike will not accelerate anymore and seems to be floundering until I back off or up shift. So is this the real personality of this bike, or do you think the bike is having a high throttle/speed jet problem, carbs need adjusted, etc. I only ask this b/c the bike absolutely falls on it's face, and it is very different to me to ride it that way.
Either way I had a lot of fun this evening, and damn this bike is torquey for the most part.
