As a reliable alternative, I had my OEM flywheel turned down by BCM to something like 2.5 lbs. So not as light as the Nichols/DP but certainly not as heavy as it was.

I had this done back in the Bruce BCM days and he explained it to me that the OEM flywheel was weighted to help the bike idle smoothly with the lean stock air/fuel mixture. When I had him richen my fuel map the OEM flywheel no longer needed to be so heavy. This is going back a couple of years but I think I paid something like $80 for the service.
