Greg, I can't speak to the Monster clearance issue as I don't own one, but the early (92-98) SS will pretty easily grind the exhaust header in hard cornering. The later SSie (99+) will eventually grind fairing lowers and sidestand (and then exhaust can), but has significantly better clearance.
