Traditionally, the CRs came with steel swingarms & the SPs came with aluminum ones. They should both be plenty strong, but the aluminum one is quite a bit lighter. Very early SS aluminum swingarms ('92-'93?) had some cracking issues.
I'm not sure if the 2002 models still came both ways or not.
