Probably true of the newer bikes too. The stock chain had 96 links. Going back to the 15T front and then using a 43T rear, I used 98 links in the new chain. That put the adjusters a little better than 1/4 of the way into the adjustment range. With the 14/40 combo, I was at the 1/2 way mark in the adjustment range.
