Word to the wise: Reset your "Trip Odometer" to "0000" EVERY time you fill up with gas. When you hit around 120 miles, get some gas!! This way you NEVER have to rely on the idiot light again. You should get around 120-145 miles per "full" tank. It's a fool proof way of never being stranded.
