I had one of these for a while. They look pretty cool, but that's about it. They don't fit all that well without some work, and they have a tendency to develop stress cracks in the gel coat. They are not plastic. If they were, maybe they wouldn't be so expensive. They are fiberglass, and are actually pretty lightweight. The workmanship is "a little rough" to say the least. My tail was uneven around the taillight cutout. You can find them pretty inexpensive if you look around. I bought mine from a guy off this sight a while back. I think I paid around $250.00 which isn't bad when you consider your getting a hand laid fiberglass piece that is already painted to match your bike. The money DP wants is a little over the top though!!! I ended up selling mine and getting the Sargent seat. I use my bike to commute, and having no under seat access was a killer. With the Sargent, not only do you get the access, but you also get more storage than stock and some usefull swing out hooks for your tailbag. I would have kept my monotail if the bike was a weekend play-bike, but for daily use, it just didn't work out that well. My !!
