If the deal is good.....I'd do it. If the bike is straight and not all thrashed....and at least runs halfway decent...you probably wont get hurt.

Its not an easy fix if it has been like that for few thousand miles. Ill send you some pics of 2002 that the cam chain was not fixed for 6000 miles.
I have the APE CCT in all my bikes. I just check it every oil change or so.
