Default GP shift on carby 900ss

Well it's getting complicated with the LH shifting (1 down/5 up) on
the 900SS/FE and the RH shifting (1 up/4 down) on the 750GT. Trying
to remember the shifting from the 2 bikes PLUS changing from LH to RH
and back is frying my brain!

So, I want to change the 900SS/FE to a GP shift (1 up/5 down) like
how the 750GT is now, so that I only have to worry about the change
between LH and RH shifting.

Is it just a matter of changing the joint below the long shift arm to
be above the long shift arm on the 900SS/FE? I think it will work.
Any thoughts?

TIA

TIA
