Default Servicing Forks

Just checking the maintenance records and it's been 4 years since Lindemann did my forks. Time to change the oil. Lindemann offers a "routine fork service" for around $135 including new oil, new seals, and a full inspection.

Does anyone just change the oil in their forks, say once a year or so? Is it a difficult procedure? My shop manual says nothing about fork oil changing, and it appears you have to remove the forks and disassemble them just to change the freakin' oil. THX.
