I've kind of avoided the forums because he's not a big car guy and I figured the enthusiast opinion isn't really what he's looking for. I think your Maxima idea is a great one. He drives the snot out of his cars, and I'm guessing that he'll get tired of the rougher ride pretty quickly.

I just checked the going prices on Q45's. 02/03's around 50-70K miles are going for around 17K up to 22K. These are extremely good road cars, as my uncle put 80K on his in less than 2 yrs. Yeah, he's got an iron but. He's had every highline from a-z and guess what he got again? Infiniti/Nissan=same thing.
If your brother is going to check out the Maxima the sportier generations will be the 4th gen(95-99) and the 5th gens(00-03) are more docile. With the 6th gens(04+) being the most docile. Its more for road tripping and galivanting to your favorite opera on the weekend. Very comfy and a well appointed ride for the money. These will also be in the Q45 price range, but will get better gas mileage.

If he does go with the Maxima he needs to look for a couple things on the 6th gens. I would highly suggest sending him here

to spend an hour or 2 reading up. The cars are now well sorted, but did have a couple of minor bugs to be worked out. I believe most of the things are TSB/warranty items so correcting them will cost nothing if they haven't already been done.(things like new front rotors, as the first batch caused some pulsing issues)

^^I would do this kind of check on any model vehicle before i bought it. Most cars have a dedicated site for info like this. There just happens to be a butt load for the Maxima.
