F i n a l l y got to ride Malattia .... and now right this report http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/Smileys/classic/grin.gif :rockon

Been waiting for a wee electrical box from the US to finish out the wiring, well the box arrived with male connections NOT female as it should have, SO, grumpy and needy I just went for a ride without my oil, low fuel and neutral lights, didn't matter anyway.

Long and short it would appear I have built a 904 V twin Motard, what an absolute blast, the bike has lost conservatively 8kg in weight, it is more like 9-10 kg but hey it is very noticable.

Feels like a trailie with a pack of snot, back braking into tight corners or "backing it in" then straigteneing her up and into it, so much fun leaving darkies on the road, my riding buddy just about fell off laughing.

Anyway she is well cool and buckets of fun to ride, she won't take too much get used to.

For anyone who did not catch up on what this is all about go to the "Lemon To Lemonade" post http://speedzilla.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1572
This is her.

:rockon Out-friggin-standing Andi!! She sounds like a blast to ride. I am happy for you man. You have been through the ringer and now you can ride her and not have the same worries.

If I run out and take an axe to my SS, I will blame you and it will be 100% YOUR fault!:wacky

Way to go, Andi. I have been following your story (stories) and I'm very happy to see something positive come of your less than ideal experiences. The bike looks cool, and now that you know what you built (Frankenduck?), you know it wasn't merely a cosmetic exercise...

I think that's the coolest thing about Ducatis. The bike -- whichever bike one has -- is merely a starting point, a blank canvas if you will. The result varies from bike to bike, owner to owner. Sometimes out of desire, often of necessity, they are hacked, modded, cut, welded, and sometimes, as in your case, transformed.

Nice job! :rockon

Thanks Desmobob, CaliDuc, Doon and john

It is great to get out finally after many many many hours of cutting, welding, grinding etc.

The interesting part is not one part of the original MH has been cut or modified, it could be turned into a normal MH with a weekends work, however I don't think I will ever do that.

I am a happy man, Fridays ride was the first time I have come back from a ride on the bike WITHOUT having to think gezz I have to fix or replace that now, it is a nice feeling it tell ya.

john, I hope to get the story to you by Thursday as we leave to China for 3.50 weeks, Doon looking forward to catchin up man, more piss drinking and lie telling to be done, wonna see this hotrod S4 in person too :rockon

I wonder how much of the handling has been transformed NOT from the direct weight reduction itself -- but the change in weight transfer (center of gravity / polar movement) because of the higher bars (wider also) and more upright riding position that was created?

Good to see ya' having fun on this bike finally!

The bars make a huge difference to the leverage you can apply with little force to hang it out, being upright also it is like riding a trailie.

It is fun to kick around now :D
